How To Manually Install ClockworkMod Recovery For Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360

So lets start how to manually install CWM recovery in samsung galaxy y gt-s5360.

Note: To install this your phone must be rooted. To know what is rooting see this best article.

1) First Download Rom Manager from the market, if you have installed it already then its ok leave this step.

2) As Clockworkmod recovery is not available for samsung galaxy y you need to install it manually. Some users use CWM recovery of Samsung Galaxy Mini( it can also be installed), now download CWM recovery from here

3) Now copy the zip file into SD card and switch off your phone.

4) Now Boot you phone in recovery mode by pressing Home Key+Volume Up Key + Power Key together for few seconds until you see samsung galaxy y logo.

5) After that you will be taken to a menu, in this UI your touchscreen facility will not work, so use volume keys for scrolling up and down, home button to select and power key to go back.

6) In that menu select update from SD card and select the zip file which you have recently copied it in your SD card.

Wait for few seconds and you will be taken to CWM recovery …that’s it, you have successfully installed CWM recovery in your phone. If you have any issues on rooting and other queries please feel free to comment.

    It works, but within limits.
First, rom manager is not able to reboot into cw recovery mode when backing up rom. Hence it doesn’t get connected to rom manager.
Second, you have to select “update from sdcard” every time you wish to use it. (maybe its meant to work like that. don’t know)
However, as a standalone works like a charm. Was able to backup my rom.
Downloading my custom rom. Will update the results….(i’ve got slow internet connection)

  2. Rom manager asking for version confirmation .which version is this(2.xOr 3.x)??

  3. Firstly-Great Article. I was impressed as I could not find the CWD zip file anywhere else for this particular phone.
Secondly-How do I back up my current rom before switching. And how do I switch back to it after installing the new ROM.

    • don’t back up your rom becoz if you back up the rom also then some error’s are coming, you can get back to stock rom using odin anytime!!!

      • Okay. But wouldnt I need a copy of the .pit and .ops file for my particular phone regardless of whether I am backing it up using ODIN or not. ODIN can be used once I have the copy of the stock ROM. BUt from my searches I could not find this particular copy anyhwere. Also why would error pop up if I backup my current copy using ROM manager ?
